Artificial Landscapes

My interest in drawing was never planned nor expected.  Painting was my passion: the use of color and a thick medium that I could push around on a canvas to blend and create texture. It wasn't until 2007, when Michael Moore, a former Professor at USM, demonstrated his drawing technique did I even give this medium a consideration.

He began  to draw by first placing a dot in the center of a sheet of paper and then making marks of random lines radiating out in no particular form or shape but in all directions.  His work came to life in front of our eyes, giving all who were present the 'permission' to try drawing instinctively with the simple use of a dot as a starting point. I had no idea drawing could be so much fun or fulfilling as an medium.

This series of drawings is a study of man-made objects interfering with or contributing to nature as a visual experience.  Each drawing is a progression of the previous one and ultimately with Nature dominating the space in Manmade vs Nature 4 (top left)..
